Someone please explain here what "XA" stands for? There's online and offline, and invisible. Is invisible XA? If so, who the heck thought up that abbreviation?

"XA" stands for "eXtended Away". "Online" means both that you are online and additionally constantly active; "Away" means that you are online but you are away/idle for few last minutes; "XA" means that you are online but have wandered away for more than just few minutes; "DND" or "Do Not Disturb" means that you are online, possibly constantly active but do not want to be disturbed (even all notifications are blocked); "FFC" or "Free For Chat" is "more than just online" - you wait for chats; finally "Offline" - you have logged out of server.
Invisibility is a tough matter. Original Jabber protocol included "Invisible" status, which enabled you to be online and chat with others, but other would not see your presence. However, XMPP protocol, which is a IETF standarization of Jabber protocol, does not include "Invisible" status, providing so called Privacy Lists for maintaining visibility/invisibility, making it possible to become (in)visible for only some of your contacts. As more and more servers become more XMPP compliant, "Invisible" status stops working ("invisible" status is unknown for server software and is treated more less like "online" status) and is forced away in more Jabber/XMPP clients.

[edit] Console question

What`s the purpose of the JID window on console mode? Can I have any special previlege when I`m sending a command to a room or a contact on a IM server by using the console when I write the adress/JID??

Example of JID to send the command:

          verifier@sapo.pt or trintoes@conference.im.sapo.pt

Thanks

LS

The JID field in the XML console is part of the Filtering interface. You can select what incoming stanzas are displayed in the xml console. It has nothing to do with privileges.
